City Press have revealed that police are investigating Reeva Steenkamp’s death after charging Pistorius with her murder last week.
“There was lots of blood on the bat. Forensic tests will show whose blood it was,” said a source quoted by City Press, who apparently concluded that the case against Pistorius was “rock-solid”.
There is also some unproved speculation that Pistorius had been taking steroids which led to “roid rage” and that 29-year-old Steenkamp suffered from a “crushed” skull from blows to the back of the head.
26-year-old superstar athlete Pistorius revealed his home security measures to the Daily Mail last year, telling the interviewer that he kept a revolver pistol at his bedside and a machinegun under his window, as well as a “one baseball bat and one cricket bat behind his bedroom door.”
Pistorius explained that it was necessary to be over-zealous with weaponry “this being South Africa”.
The Olympic star’s family have insisted on the story that he shot his girlfriend through the bathroom door, mistaking her for a burglar.
Oscar Pistorius’ agent Peet van Zyl announced last night that all future track races for the athlete have been cancelled
“I have decided that following these tragic events that we have no option but to cancel all future races that Oscar Pistorius had been contracted to compete in,” read a statement.
Over the weekend South African TV aired a recent recording of Reeva Steenkamp in reality TV show ‘Tropika Island of Treasure’ with the blessing of her family.
Steenkamp was due to give an inspirational speech on Valentine’s Day last week to kids at Sandown High School, telling them about her background coming from a humble country background and her experience in an abusive relationship. The notes for the speech were published by the Evening Standard.
