Alexandra Burke (Syco)
There was enough in Burke’s time on X Factor to suggest she might go on to make a moderately charismatic record. Her debut album isn’t it. Sounding as if it was assembled from demos rejected by Rihanna and Ne-Yo, who has a cameo on Good Night Good Morning, Overcome rarely grabs the listener’s attention and fails to retain it. Burke’s confident vocals are the best thing about a record that struggles to get out of second gear.
