Heavy metal legend and Black Sabbath frontman Osbourne is renowned for his particularly non-animal-friendly rock n’ roll antics, having famously bitten the head off a bat live onstage in 1982, and chomped the head off a dove a year earlier during a meeting with record executives in Los Angeles.
Iommi, who has just published his memoirs, Iron Man: My Journey Through Heaven and Hell With Black Sabbath, told The New York Post newspaper that Osbourne once hauled a shark into the band’s hotel room and dismembered it, “soaking our room in blood”.
It was unclear exactly where the rocker procured the shark from.
Iommi blamed the incident on the band’s increasing boredom with drugs.
“With drugs always you get bored, so you must do something to one another. Like Ozzy hauling a shark through a window [and] dismembering it,” he said.
Iommi, 63, added that he and Osbourne, 62, remain friends.
“I talk to Ozzy couple times a week. He’s up, down. I love him, although his attention span lasts three seconds.”
It is rumoured that Black Sabbath, who helped pioneer the heavy metal genre in the late Sixties and early Seventies, are planning to reunite the original line-up for a comeback.
