The Celebrity Big Brother crown last night went to Paddy Doherty, the star of reality TV show, My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding.

Paddy beat pop duo Jedward and former Atomic Kitten singer Kerry Katona to win Channel 5’s revamped reality show.

The 52-year-old, who was made third favourite by the bookmakers, Jumped up and down when host Brian Dowling announced he’d won. Doherty roared with joy, hugged Katona and punched the air, revealing underarm sweat patches the size of Spain.

After leaving the house the former bare-knuckle fighter said: “Thank you to all of the members of the public who voted for me. God bless every one of you.”

The father of five said he had only expected to stay in the house for a week. “No way did I think I would get this far,” he said.

Paddy was honest about the fact that he didn't have a game plan, he wasn't sure people would like him, he found it hard living alongside “county people”.

He said, “I had no game plan. I was just myself. Either you like me or you don’t. I’m me and that’s it.”

Paddy added he's made a friend for life in Darryn Lyons and was like “the father Kerry never had”.

Though, Paddy admitted that although he’d had an amazing time, he couldn’t wait to get out of the house.

He got all teary when talking about missing his “woman” and even made Brian Dowling break down in tears.

Katona, 31, said her experience in the house had taught her she was a “strong independent woman” who could “stand on my own two feet”.

Twins Jedward, who shot to fame on the X Factor last year, had been firm favourites to win the show with bookmakers, but came third.

They had earlier been voted the ‘most annoying housemates’.

Other housemates included The Only Way Is Essex star Amy Childs, American Pie Actress Tara Reid and Sally Bercow, wife of the speaker of the House of Commons.
