The 41-year-old caretaker had secretly set up home in the school cupboard for weeks last spring after he and his wife divorced.
He had turned the storage space into a hideaway at the school in Norwich.
Clark’s computer was found with 1,749 indecent images of children at Eaton Primary School. The images had been copied to a laptop, memory stick and SD card.
In court it was revealed that 491 images were in the two most serious categories, showing children under 13 years old.
None of the images showed children at the school.
Clark has been jailed for a year.
“Clark, said to the police that he had found the pictures on a discarded memory card, away from the school.
Post sentencing, Det Con Pippa Hinds said:
“Abusing his position of trust, he stored this material within an environment where young children were present.
“His calculating approach to the crime using the cupboard demonstrates how he thought he could evade the police and prosecution.”
Clark has been placed on the sex offenders’ register and will not be allowed to use devices that connect to the internet or store digital images for five years.
