There were four stages of the run, and at each point, participants got showered with a different colour of powder. The Color Run launched in the US last year, and has since spread to 30 American cities. Australia is the first country outside of the US to adopt it.
Loosely inspired by the Hindu festival Holi, where it’s tradition to get drenched in rainbow of coloured powders, the Color Run not only raises money for charity, but brings people together in a festive spirit. The Sydney run was the second largest so far (26,000 joggers hit the streets of Philadelphia last year).
The event raised £130,000 for the charity Heartkids, and Swisse things they’ll be able to generate five times that as the run travels Australia this year.
