The Oracle Octopus Paul, now an international celebrity fortuneteller was proven correct as Spain beat Germany in the World Cup Semi finals yesterday. In a classsic tale of grilling the messenger, as the game ended upset German supporters were heard to be asking for octopus recipes in the eateries. German fans were also tweeting about grilling the nine brained seer and throwing him into the saucepan.
A header from defender Carles Puyol in the 73rd minute of the game gave Spain a finals berth. The Spanish team dominated the match but struggled to finish off a German side who lacked their usual pace.

The young German team was hailed by the national press with the major daily, The Bildt saying “keep your heads high, boys! Because we’ll be bringing the trophy back in four years from the next World Cup in Brazil.”
Similarly another daily Die Welt also expressed confidence about the German side for the 2014 World cup in Brazil.”This team can do a great deal in the next few years,”
The German coach was appreciative of their record so far. He was quoted “I looked into their faces and, yes, there was disappointment there. It did not work out against Spain but they deserve a huge compliment because they played a fantastic tournament,”.
Meanwhile the other world cup finalist team – The Netherlands, had to rebook their accommodation in Johannesburg as they hadn’t expected to make it to the last week of the tournament. Their rooms were booked till 5 July – a day before their semi final win over Uruguay. Now they have moved to the Sunnyside Park hotel ahead of the final to be held this Sunday.
