72-year-old Frank Corti punched 23-year-old Gregory McCalium twice in the face when he discovered him inside his home in Botley, Oxford. Corti then restrained McCalium until the police arrived.

“I was scared when he first drew the knife, but my old training must have kicked in because I just punched him as hard as I could and he went down like a sack of spuds. If you can’t defend what’s yours, where are we at?” said Corti, according to The Telegraph.

Barman McCalium, who was drunk at the time and allegedly pulled a knife on the former Royal Engineer, claimed he couldn’t remember the incident.

A judge at Oxford Crown Court told McCalium he had “got what he deserved”. He was sentenced to four-and-a-half years in prison.
