A wounded policeman may have his radio to thank for saving his life, according to Sky News.

The policeman was involved in a shootout on Ferry Lane, Tottenham yesterday evening when a stray bullet hit his radio, which may have reduced the shot's impact.

He was discharged from the hospital and his injuries are unknown at this time.

The shootout left the armed gunmen dead after he was fatally shot by police forces.

"We do not know the order the shots were fired. We understand the officer was shot first before the male was shot," said a spokesman from the Independent Police Complaints Commission.

The gunman was identified as "Mark," by Jay Crowned, a resident who lives in an area near the shootout.

According to Crowned, the man had four children.
