City passed with ease through to the next stage of the Europa League competition with a 4-nil win on the night and a comprehensive 6-1 aggregate victory but their triumph has been dampened by the lack of humour shown by their opponents.
Porto are preparing an official complaint that City’s fans have behaved in an improper way, towards their player who was also subject to cries of “cheat”, for his perceived tendency to look for free kicks.
City have greeted this development with, understandable, surprise and there are those who also see porto’s lodging of a complaint as an act of retaliation after City lodged complaints with the football governing body for perceived racial abuse of their players Mario Balotelli and Yaya Toure when the two teams met during the first leg in Portugal last week.
