The chairmen of the 20 EPL clubs are odds-on to vote in favour today on the move towards technology the sport as so long avoided

Germany’s GoalControl has already been hired to provide its camera technology to the Confederations Cup this summer.

HawkEye, which is used in tennis tournaments, also uses camera technology while the other two companies in the running for the English contract include those which use a sensor inside the ball to detect if a goal has been scored.

When implemented, a sigal will be sent to the referee via a special watch to inform them if the ball has gone over the line.
