A bald man in a red shirt paid the ultimate price for getting a spot at the front of the crowd when team USA’s Keegan Bradley unleashed a tee shot.

He hooked it slightly, but enough the find the edge of the fan scrum and clock this poor bloke in the head.

To his credit, the fan took it like a champ and sat straight up.

He did however appear to take cover when Bradley took his second shot.

Some have criticised Bradley for not shouting the obligatory ‘four!”, to indicate a ball is on the way and not necessarily where he wanted it to go, but anyone not expecting a ball to come flying at a great rate of knots in this scenario would deserve to be hit.

Nevertheless, the fan will have a headache this morning but might feel better than Bradley and teammate Phil Mickelson, who were beaten in their pairs match-up by the International team’s South African duo Charl Schwartzel and Louis Oosthuizen.

This year’s Presidents Cup is being played at Muirfield Village Golf Club. The tournament is contested by a USA team and an International team, made up of players from the rest of the world that don’t fall into the Europe Ryder Cup catchment area.

At the end of day one, the USA lead 3.5 to 2.5.
