Thousands of cheering fans came to greet newlyweds Prince William and Kate yesterday in Canada.
The Duchess of Cambridge and Wills arrived in Ottawa to a rapturous reception on the first afternoon of their 11-day tour of Canada and the US.
Kate shook hands and chatted away to her Canadian fans – 10,000 of them had turned up hoping to catch a glimpse of the couple.
"Thank you so much. We are so delighted to be here," she told fans, many of whOM had handed her flowers and gifts.
The trip is the Royal couple's first foreign trip together. They were initially met by Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper and his wife Laureen.
Kate left the UK in a $920 blazer by Toronto-based designer Smythe les Vestes and a fitted dress by Roland Mouret.
During the seven hour flight on a Canadian airforce jet, Kate changed into a beautiful lacy dress by trendy designer Erdem Moralioglu.
After meeting her fans, the pair went to a barbecue for 120 Canadian youngsters at the Governor-General's mansion Rideau Hall.
