Rihanna and Christina Aguilera’s raunchy X Factor performances have shocked the UK public with Ofcom having received over 1000 complaints since the show aired on Saturday.
The American superstars and their dancers performed sexy dance routines in tiny, revealing outfits on Saturday night’s X Factor show, with many viewers feeling the act was inappropriate for the show, which by many is seen as a family programme.
Ofcom’s broadcasting policy states that ‘children must be protected by appropriate scheduling from material that is unsuitable for them’.
A spokesman for Ofcom said: “We are assessing the complaints but are not currently investigating the show.”
Meanwhile, an ITV1 spokeswoman said:
“We are confident that the performances given by our guest artists on Saturday were appropriate for the show.”
This year’s X Factor final smashed a nine-year old record with more than 17 million viewers tuning in to the live show.
