Applying now though does not secure a spot in next year’s race, which will be run on Sunday April 21 2013. Prospective runners will have to wait until October to find out if they have been selected.
A £35 admin fee is charged for applications, and is refunded to those who are not successful. If these unlucky folk decide to donate their £35 fee, they automatically go in to the draw for a further 1000 places.
The London marathon is a British tradition. First run in 1981, it regularly draws hundreds of thousands of applications for places, and raises thousands of pounds for charity.
