The scene: A funky yet laid-back, Japanese-inspired bar that cuts an original presence on the high street. There are also three private karaoke rooms for hire.

The grub: Snacks, light meals and sharing plates that are fresh and full of flavour, from £3-£12. The sushi was particularly good.

Behind the bar: A great cocktail list. Forget bog-standard concoctions – there’s plenty of Japanese liquors and flavours involved. Try the moshito (a twist on a mojito; made with sake) or the Tommy Wong Collins. There’s wine by the glass or bottle. Bottled beer only.

Bill please: Two cocktails (£7 each), two light meals and tip for £30.

Verdict: With tasty food and cocktails that are innovative and delicious, this is a great spot for a midweek tipple or serious weekend booze-up.
