OVERVIEW Childlike joy is the only appropriate response to the awesome quirk of the Inshriach Yurt, built by DIY maverick Walter Micklethwait, co-owner of the lush Inshriach estate and part-time prop man for film and TV sets. From the outside, the yurt is your typical tent borne from Turk nomads battling life on the central Asian steppes, but duck inside and it’s a quasi-Victorian set-up cobbled together from restored junk shop jewels.
WOW FACTOR Aside from falling head over heels for the interior, the location is astounding – a spread of green hills, distant pine forests and the snowcapped mountains of the Cairngorms National Park.
ROOMS The whole yurt is one big room, comprising cosy cast-iron double bed, a wood-burning stove, and a string of irresistably chipper fairylights.
BILL PLEASE From £70pn. Minimum stay is two nights.
