Now there’s a new kid in town: Supernatural, a juice and smoothie store. Keen to pay homage to the local area they have launched a special spiced juice range which is exclusive to their east-end store.

Supernatural is run by former mixologists who wanted to take the principles of cocktail making to the world of juicing. I had previously tried a variety of their juices and smoothies at City workout haunt 1Rebel and I must admit, even the “Detox Juice”, packed full of kale was tasty. Well, as tasty as one can get drinking juiced kale.

The spiced juice menu combines cayenne pepper, turmeric, green chili, ginger, bell pepper, scotch bonnet chili and Himalayan rock salt with fresh vegetables and fruit and comprises of five juices.

My spice tolerance level is: with a hefty kick to it so I was keen to see how I was going to handle juiced chillies. As it turns out; remarkably well.

First up was, Citrus Kick (orange, carrot, ginger, turmeric, cayenne pepper and lemon). One word – delicious. Just the right amount of spice. As odd as it sounds turmeric goes really well in juices and as an added bonus it’s an anti-inflammatory.

Next up (for those who can take the heat) was, Hot Scotch (watermelon, lemon, mint and scotch bonnet chilli). This one needs to come with a warning. It is mega hot, and, as I’ve previously mentioned I can take the heat. It’s one for the heat fiends out there.

Then I tried the Eye-Popper (spinach, cucumber, celery, ginger, bell pepper and apple). The spice level in this one was more up my spice street and thankfully you couldn’t even taste the celery.

Don’t let the name Mind Blower (Green Chilli, Pineapple, Lime, Apple and Orange) put you off this one, it was my favourite out of the lot of them. The green chilli gives you a lovely warming sensation in your throat but never turns to ‘pass the milk, now’.

The last juice on the spice menu is the Power Beet (beetroot, cayenne pepper, Himalayan rock salt, lemon and apple). Try as I may to like beetroot, I can’t. Objectively, this is the sweetest juice on the menu and would be ideal for the spiced juice novice.

All juices come in small, medium and large sizes, with prices ranging from £3.95, £4.45 and £4.95 respectively.
