Tributes to Robert Sebbage, the 18-year-old Brit who was stabbed by a Greek taxi driver early Wednesday morning, continue to pour in through Facebook. The teenager’s family have made a statement asking that Sebbage’s friends be left alone to grieve.

A Facebook page, entitled “R.I.P Robert Sebbage,” was created yesterday, and already has 3,538 “likes.”

Both strangers and friends have left hundreds of messages sending their condolences to Robert Sebbage’s family.

"I did not know you personally but the news of your death has shocked me. Thinking of your family and friends at this very sad time," wrote one person.

Another person wrote: “You will be truly missed by all who knew you & my thoughts & sympathies are with your family & friends at this tragic time.”

Robert Sebbage died early Wednesday morning after being stabbed by a Greek cab driver at the Lagana resort, a popular getaway on Zakynthos.

The scuffle, which took place at 4:30 in the morning, left four other young Britons injured.

Jordan Manson, 18, was sent to the hospital after the argument broke out. Samuel Champion, Steven Granston and Callum Lane, all 18, were also sent to the hospital, and are said to have injuries that are not life threatening.

All of the teenagers were former students at Hurst Community College in North Hampshire.

In a statement released by the Hampshire police on behalf of the Sebbage family, police said: “"All these young men are very close friends. They are simply just a bunch of nice lads and this is their first holiday abroad and they had all gone just to enjoy themselves."

The family also requested their privacy. "Those lads that will be returning home ask that they be left alone to recover from their injuries and grieve the loss of a friend,” said the statement.

According to reports, Sebbage and his friends got in an argument with taxi drivers outside a nightclub after shining a laser pen into the taxi drivers’ eyes.

Two suspects are due before a Greek magistrate. A 21-year-old is facing a murder charge and his 25-year-old colleague is charged with complicity to commit murder.
