The Australian Premiers claimed their third WCC victory and denied the Warriors their fourth after a first half try blitz including a Sam Moa try between Michael Jennings double for a 18-0 half-time lead.
Wigan fought back in the second 40-minutes with a four-pointer from Joe Burgess and a pair for England winger Josh Charnley.
But the Roosters cancelled those out with Jennings’ third and more tries to Kiwis Jared Waerea-Hargreaves and Shaun Kenny-Dowall. James Maloney’s radar was well and truly on as he kicked all six of his conversion attempts.
It was the first time the WCC had been played in Australia since 1994 when Wigan beat the Brisbane Broncos.
