Rosa’s Spitalfields
The scene: A stone’s throw from the predictable Brick Lane offerings, this cosy Thai restaurant is always packed, and with good reason. Shared tables, bum-numbing stools and efficient service mean you won’t be waiting long if they can’t accommodate you immediately, and it all adds up to a lively, bustling vibe.
The grub: Staple curry dishes and pad Thai are superb. We branched out and went for gaeng dang nuea kwang – a curry with pineapple and duck. Delicious sauce, but the meat was a tad fatty.
Behind the bar: Not extensive, but wine, soft drinks and bottled beers are all here.
Bill please: It’s quite pricey for Thai – currys range from £7-£10 without rice, but the food is tasty and the portion sizes generous.
Verdict: Good service, great food and a buzzing atmosphere, Rosa’s is fab – but you don’t get long.
