The Princess was taken by car about 6am this morning with husband Prince William by her side from Kensington Palace to the Lindo Wing of the Paddington facility.

Her doctors include the Queen’s current and former gynaecologists Alan Farthing and Marcus Setchell.

Hundreds of press from around the world have been waiting for this moment for days.

Clarence House’s official Twitter feed said:

Reports say Princess Kate intends to have a natural birth and that the couple haven’t sought whether the new royal will be a boy or a girl.

“Things are progressing as normal,” their official spokesman told The Sun.Skybet has reopened betting, albeit briefly, on a name and sex of the baby, with odds at 13/8 for a boy and 4/9 for a girl.

Alexandra is the favourite for the name at 5/2.
