Royal wedding watchers now have a host of apps available to them on their smartphones or iPads to help them count down the the big day, The BBC reports.

Apps available include feeds on the latest news while others provide detailed backstories to the royal romance with iPhones and iPads offering no less than 19 applications.

Most of the simpler apps use clocks to countdown to the big day when Kate Middleton Prince William will finally tie the knot on April 29.

However more sophisticated apps such as Neon Play’s free iPhone app which includes a guide to Westminster Abbey’s seating plan are also available.

The free Royal Wedding 2011 app includes a guide to royal protocol while an Android apps give phone owners a new royal themed wallpaper once an hour.

Hello magazine meanwhile is offering its app for free for a limited time.

There are no official apps from the palace so far.
