Four men, including two Golden Lions rugby players, will appear in court on Tuesday on charges of drug dealing, police said.

“The four will appear in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court on charges of dealing in cocaine,” said Superintendent Eugene Opperman.

Golden Lions flyhalf Earl Rose and left-wing Rayno Benjamin, and two others, Chatna Cloete and Heinrich Gordon, were arrested at a flat in Randburg, Johannesburg, earlier this year and were charged on January 31.

Golden Lions executive Manie Reyneke told Beeld newspaper that the rugby union was aware of the charges, but that they believed the drugs had been planted.
