It offers unique opportunities to run along and past some of Sydney’s icons including the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

The Marathon (in case you were wondering, that’s 42.195km in new money) is reckoned to be one of the world’s most scenic courses, taking in some of Sydney’s most spectacular and historic landmarks including the Harbour Bridge and Opera House.

Like all the day’s events, you start at Bradfield Park (you’ll need to cross the start line at 7.30am, by the way), Milson’s Point travel over the main deck of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and, in this case, finish at the Sydney Opera House

If that’s too rich, there’s always the challenge of the 21km (21.0975km to be precise and the 0.0975 could make all the difference!) half marathon course although you’ll need to be a bit earlier and hit the start line by 6.35am.

The 9km event is perhaps a more achievable challenge, starting at 9am and taking in the Bridge and Mrs Macquarie’s Chair before finishing at the Royal Botanic Gardens.

Or walk or run the 3.5km fun run with family and friends, starting at 7.50am and still travelling over the main deck of the Bridge, finishing at the Conservatorium of Music, the entrance of the Royal Botanic Gardens.

Or you could just go and watch.
