Only an hour north of Pamplona is the stunning beachside city of San Sebastian. With one of Europe’s best city beaches you can soak up the sun and sea only metres from historic buildings and a myriad of tapas, or pintxos, bars.
A short hike up Monte Urgull will lead you to a giant statue of Christ with amazing views across Concha Bay and the city.
With the Basque region famous for its tapas, make sure you allow time to sample the range on offer. Around lunch-time the bars are bustling with locals and tourists feasting on the small, but filling, samples. Seafood tapas are a specialty of the seaside city.
