Food
There’s a great selection of pastries and breads available to nosh on if you are after a quick snack. Sausages (wurst) are also a favourite snack and are usually available from fast food stands. If you’re after a solid meal, than pork and veal are the meat of choice. Sweet tooths will be in dessert heaven from the apple strudels to the rich chocolate cakes. Meanwhile a local dish to sink your chompers into is the Salzburger Nockerl which are sweet egg dumplings.
Drink
Austrians aren’t shy of a sinking an alcoholic tipple or two. Beer is a top choice as there are a number of local breweries with varieties including dark beer and wheat beer. Wine is another Austrian favourite while fruit flavoured schnapps will certainly get the party started.
Water
The water is perfectly safe to drink in Salzburg.
