Mr Abbott has also warned that it’s ‘highly unlikely’ that any surface debris will be found.

The PM made his comments during a news conference in Canberra, and stressed that while the operation was ‘changing’, it was definitely not ending.

Since the Malaysia Airlines flight went missing on March 8, planes and ships from different countries have searched for debris, and a robotic submarine, Bluefin-21, has been searching the ocean floor in seas north west of Perth.

“We will do everything we humanly can… to solve this mystery,” said Mr Abbott.
