An image of what purports to be a woman wearing what has been described as ‘hairy stockings’ has gone viral on Seina Weibo. One Chinese trend watcher, ChinaSMACK proudly declaring ”Super sexy, summertime anti-pervert full-leg-of-hair stockings, essential for young girls going out.”
Yes, that’s right ladies, it’s summertime in China and in the hot weather the perverts and sex offenders are out in force. That shouldn’t stop you from wearing a pretty summer dress though, should it? Well fret no more, because it seems that you can now have your cake and eat it too. Just whack on a pair of hairy stockings and every man in a ten Shanghai city block radius will be getting as far away from you as possible.
The image [above] that has gone viral shows a pair of bare (if not particularly feminine) feet jutting out from underneath a seriously hairy pair of legs. In my opinion it’s just a guy whose shaved his feet for a bit of a laugh, but it seems the photo/product (if it exists at all) has some admirers in China.
“Essential for the subway?” questioned one user, before saying that if the hairy stockings exist, she’d be willing to try them out.
Still, for every one or two Seina Weibo users who’d be willing to take the stockings out for a night on the town there have been plenty who have written the idea off.
“If it has come to this,” queried one bright spark. “Why not just wear long pants?” That’s the kind of clear, concise and well-reasoned thought process that can get a person disappeared in a totalitarian state.
Let’s hope, if the hairy stockings do take off in China, that the trend somehow finds its way to America. Then we’d start getting reports that Bigfoot had been seen parading around town in a sundress.
