Nine people have been arrested and six people have taken to hospital after becoming injured when partygoers began to aggressively protest when police attempted to cordon the area off.

When officers noticed large amounts of people heading towards the building at 9.40pm last night, they found out that 300 people were inside the building, and 1,000 were outside. As there was only one exit and entrance, they attempted to stop more people getting in, but this led to a minority becoming violent.

Speaking to the BBC, Gavin Barwell, MP for Croydon Central, said that the party was ‘unacceptable.’

“It is clearly unacceptable to have a situation where people are allowed to occupy a building, disrupt the whole public transport system and keep a lot of the people that live in the area up all night,” he said.

The Met Police have said they expect to make more arrests over the next few days as a result of evidence gathered overnight.
