Areas of Northern Scotland that were enjoying summery conditions as recently as last week are now blanketed in around 10cm of the white stuff.
Some Britons are struggling to adapt to the swift drop in temperatures following the third warmest March on record. That certainly seemed to be the case for a party of nine walkers who needed to be rescued after becoming stranded in Cairngorms in the Scottish Highlands.
Pedestrians weren’t the only ones affected, and emergency services have been busy attending to road collisions caused by the hazardous conditions.
The Met Office has already issued severe weather warnings for Scotland and areas of northern England. The chilly weather is expected to hit Wales and the Midlands by tomorrow.
