The ferry, which sank off the South Korean coast on Wednesday, capsized during a journey from Incheon to the island of Jeju.

Police prevented up to 100 angry relatives marching from Jindo island to to Seoul, the country’s capital.

The relatives and friends of missing people have been staying in a gymnasium on the island, and scuffles broke out when some worried family members attempted to cross a bridge to the mainland, and begin a 260-mile trek to the Presidential Blue House.

According to the BBC, about 200 ships, 34 aircraft and 600 divers have been searching the ship for survivors.

The death toll is currently 54. 350 of those on board were students on a school outing from Danwon High School in Ansan, a suburb of Seoul.
