Food
Don’t expect to find many vegetarian options in the meat-heavy Croatia. You’ll find Mediterranean dishes like pizza and pasta and while an antipasto of cured meats and cheeses are a national favourite. Seafood in all forms is usually top quality and offered all over the Croatian coastline.
Drink
Enjoy a local beer with Zlatorog or Uzusko. If you get friendly with the locals, you’ll probably be offered some home-made (domace) alcohol of some persuasion, be it wine or brandy. The white wine is pretty strong and it’s not rude to ask to top it up with mineral water to make gemist. Thick, black Turkish coffee is also popular in people’s homes but isn’t for the faint-hearted.
Water
Tap water is drinkable in Split.
