Kelly Nash covers the Tampa Bay Rays baseball club for Fox’s Sun Sports channel and was up in Boston to attend the Rays’ game with the Red Sox.

While watching batting practice she turned her back on the field to take a little self-portrait in front of the famous ground to share with her folks, who would have been stoked to see where she was working.

When she looked at the pictures, though, she realised she had had an inadvertent close call as one of the balls had been smashed out of the park and she had caught it in the pic whizzing past the back of her head.

“I was taking a picture of myself in the seats above the Green Monster during White Sox batting practice,” Nash told Fox Sports Florida

“Producer Art Dryce had called out ‘heads up!’ a few times while I was taking pictures around the left field section, but none of those balls actually fell close to me, so I took my chances turning my back on batting practice for a picture.

“My whole family is from Massachusetts, and I knew they would be so excited to see me working at Fenway Park, and when I went to text them the picture I noticed the baseball by my head!”

Close call indeed.
