Children are among the dead and it has been reported that 18 premature babies died when the power to a hospital in Homs was cut.
Syrian activists are pleading with the UK to step in, saying the country urgently needs food and medical aid.
Today, Homs was battered with rockets as tanks made their way through the city. Those in opposition to Assad claim that more than 200 people have been killed in the last two days.
A desperate please comes from video blogger Danny Adbul Daymen, a British-born Syrian who has posted a string of clips to Youtube.
In one, Daymen appears to stand over the dead body of a small girl, asking “Is this what the UN is waiting for?”
Another clip shows Daymen standing in front of smoking buildings.
“This is Homs, Baba Amr, you can see over there another rocket landed on one of the civilian’s houses, this has been going on all day, since 5am,” he says.
“Where is the f***king UN? Where’s America? Where’s the humanity.
“Are we animals dying here?”
