Australian fast bowler Shaun Tait showed a welcome return to international form when he took three wickets in his opening spell against India A in a 50-over match on Tuesday.

Tait, back in Australian colours after taking a break from the game because of physical and mental exhaustion, blasted out the India A top order in Hyderabad.

In his second over Tait beat Indian opener Robin Uthappa for speed and had him LBW for two, then four balls later sent the talented Suresh Raina’s off-stump cartwheeling for a duck.

Bowling fast and straight, Tait then had Subramaniam Badrinath caught behind by wicketkeeper Luke Ronchi in his fourth over to have the home team reeling at 3-19.

The home side recovered to reach 207 in 49.4 overs, with Tait finishing on 3-27 from his nine overs while Queenslander Ashley Noffke wrapped up the innings to finish with 4-39.
