The Builders Arms
1 Kensington Court Pl, W8 5BJ
Tube: High Street Kensington
The scene: Two blocks south of the high street, the Builders Arms is cosy without being stifling, traditional without being stuffy and hip without being wanky. In short, it’s a quality London gastro. The loft is a great spot for a big group, the comfy sofas perfect for couples.
The grub: Boasts exceptional calamari by pub standards and a delicious gourmet roast beef sandwich to help soak up the booze. Crucially, Sunday roasts are top-notch.
Behind the bar: A vast range of tap beers, with 21 different brews on draught. There are excellent Bloody Marys to help clear out the cobwebs after a rough night.
Bill please: Pretty cheap given the location. Bar prices are standard and you can get a great feed for less than £10.
Verdict: Like all the best pubs, as good an option on a Friday night as on a Sunday afternoon.
