Ivy York (Ivy York)
The pen name Ivy York apparently disguises the vocalist’s brief pop career Down Under as a misguided 17-year-old. Now 28, York shouldn’t worry because this lovely ‘mini album’ reveals her to be a singular pop talent. Her songs tend to be built around a loping country beat, which is then filigreed with European vaudeville folk, dreamy strings and/or lush walls of sound, not to mention York’s own rich, textured, operatically trained voice.
