Fanatical followers tracked down Anna Crotti, 20, who works on the front desk at Nova radio network in Sydney, on Facebook and bombarded her with intimidating messages.

Harry Styles commented to breakfast hosts Ryan “Fitzy” Fitzgerald and Michael “Wippa” Wipfli, who were interviewing them, that Crotti had “beautiful eyes”.

Zayn Malik and Niall Horan both agreed, and a member of the band’s entourage got Crotti’s phone number to give to Malik.
Fans began to get mean, with one saying: “Why would they choose you?”

Crotti said: “We were communicating (via text) through the whole day pretty much (and Zayn) asked if I would like to catch up. I said I was free a bit later.”

“By the end of the day it got a bit too scary. I didn’t even want to walk home. It was so intense.

“I messaged (Zayn) and said, ‘Maybe it’s not a good idea we meet up’. It was just a bit too full-on. I know it’s just typical teenage girl stuff, but I don’t understand it.”

But Crotti has a boyfriend of two years, named Jack, so the mad fans needn’t have worried.

Radio host Fitzy said: “I didn’t think anything could top that Bieber kid but these guy have.”

“Poor Anna. I don’t think she knew how to handle it – it was just crazy. She’s had mothers calling her saying their daughters are crying and would kill to be in her shoes.”

At least 10 young fans were treated by medics after passing out in Martin Place when the band appeared at a window at Sydney’s Sunrise studios.

Styles and Malik were seen clubbing in Sydney, since arriving for their Australian leg of their tour, surrounded by a gaggle of blonde girls.

Twitter user Britt Cordina posted pictures of the pair larking around in a club, and said they were “lovely” and “sweet”.
