The Duckworth Lewis Method (Divine Comedy)
That rarest of musical beasts, a cricket-themed LP, The Duckworth Lewis Method is at its best when Neil Hannon (of the Divine Comedy) and Thomas Walsh use the sport not as subject but as background, as with Mason On The Boundary.
But when the sport is shoved centre-stage, as on Jiggery Pokery (the story of Shane Warne’s ball of the century, sung from Mike Gatting’s viewpoint) and the flimsy Test Match Special, it’s all a bit gauche.
