The scene: A Shoreditch bar that feels genuinely cool without being as
posturing as some of the haunts in this neck of the woods. The
Griffin’s scruffiness is part of its charm and you can tell that the
mismatched furniture and flyer-laden walls have seen their fair share
of debauchery. There’s a pool table, a jukebox and regular live
acoustic sessions upstairs.

The grub: Just peanuts and some bar snacks.

Behind the bar: There’s a good selection of beer, including some real
ales on pump. Basic choice of wines and full selection of spirits on
offer.

Bill please: A pint is £3.20, bottled beers are £3 and spirits are from
£3.50.

Verdict: If you’re feeling rock ’n’ roll, hit The Griffin. If
you’re not, you will be by the time you leave.
