The Bats (yesboyicecream)
The Bats’ latest album arrives 22 years after their debut, Daddy’s Highway was pressed to vinyl.
Not that you’d guess.
Listening to The Guilty Office with its fuzzy guitars, girl/boy harmonies, labrynthine chord progressions and lo-fi production is like discovering a time capsule from Dunedin circa 1983 – a time when The Bats then-record label Flying Nun set the bar for quirky, innovative pop.
So it’s dated for sure, but also a pleasant nostalgia trip.
