Getting There

Most airlines fly into the Netherlands’ main international, Schipol, which just outside Amsterdam. There also flights to Rotterdam airport.

Train travel is a relaxing way to see the sights while heading to your destination and there are good links to Germany, France and Belgium.

Getting Around

As the Netherlands is a compact, flat country, getting around is fairly easy. There are good rail links between cities with Netherlands Railway.

No trip to the Netherlands would be complete without a bike ride. Hiring a bike is possible from most train stations. ANWB provides maps of cycle routes for each province or ask the local tourist offices for suggestions.

If you want to visit the Frisian Islands, catch a ferry from the mainland with Rederij Doeksen or Wagenborg. Unfortunately island hopping is not easy as ferry times and services are often irregular.
