His wife Kirsten said that in the Noughties, Jaz was so depressed he tried to commit suicide twice.
The first attempt came after the gangland shooting of his close pal Fabian Ricketts in 2006.
Then as he got over the death, Jaz became depressed when he got to the boot camp stage of The X Factor in 2009 and harsh criticism from record executives.
“At least one industry boss told him he was too fat to be a success. In the end the rejections destroyed his confidence and left him broken,” Kirsten said.
“Weeks after that he went to Vauxhall Bridge and thought about jumping off. I don’t know what would have happened if his friends hadn’t found him.’
Jaz then also took a cocktail of alcohol and pills in another bid to end his life.
But now things are looking a whole lot rosier for the man with the amazing voice.
After hospitalisation, he’s gotten married, while Kirsten is pregnant with his child and is due to give birth in July.
On Saturday night’s instalment of The Voice went head-to-head in this week’s battle round against fellow team mate Jay Norton to sing Marvin Gaye’s Heard It Through The Grapevine.
Despite Jaz suffering bronchitis, will.i.am told him: ‘You both killed it and knocked us all out, but Jaz I want to take you onto the lives. You’ve got soul in a bowl, you’ve got soul on a pole.’
