Michael Jackson (Sony)

Just four months after Jackson’s death comes the industry’s first offensive attempt to cash in on it. Tied to a sorry-sounding movie that documents rehearsals for the concert tour Jackson didn’t live to perform, This Is It is simply a greatest hits package with the worthless addition of a 1983 demo gussied up for release with a Lidl-quality arrangement. It’s hard to envisage a more desperate cash-in, but this is probably just the start. Sony should be ashamed of itself.
