Munich has been named the best beer city in the world, following a Lonely Planet survey.
The Germany city is famed for its annual Oktoberfest where festival-goers sup six million litres of beer in 16 days, as well as being home to renowned beer hall Hofbräuhaus am Platzl.
Bruges in Belgium scooped second place, Prague came in third and Dublin fourth. In fifth place was London was 8 per cent of the vote. The USA’s beer capital Portland, Oregon, came in sixth place. The American city is home to more breweries than any other city in the country.
