A day of negative cricket has seriously damaged Australia’s chances of retaining the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in the final Test against India at Nagpur.
The Australians have been dismissed for 355 in their first innings with only 166 runs scored for the loss of eight wickets in 85.4 overs on day three.
Simon Katich has top scored with 102 and Mike Hussey has made 90, but the rest of Australia’s batsmen have failed to fire.
Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh has figures of 3-94 and the home side will resume at 0-0 after surviving one over before stumps.
Australia need to win the Test to level the series and retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
