Twilight Eclipse breaks midnight screening record

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse has broken the midnight screening record in the US, taking over $30 million in one night.

Eclipse is the third movie in hot vampire series, The Twilight Saga, and last night fans (mainly female and teenage) turned up in hormonal droves to the first screening, breaking a record previously held by The Twilight Saga: New Moon.

New Moon took $26.2 million back in November before going on to take over $700 million at the global box office, making it one of the biggest movie cash cows of 2009.

Eclipse is expected to surpass the record held by New Moon and could break $1 billion this summer.
