Wild Beasts (Domino)

The first thing you notice will probably be the voice of Hayden Thorpe.

It’s a charismatic instrument that spends much of Two Dancers swooping between expressive tenor and soaring falsetto.

The second thing you notice may be the fact that the band behind Thorpe is less interesting, chugging through a series of by-the-book harmonic progressions without ever catching fire.

The surface is lovely, but there’s not much beneath it.
