Chavez, who died earlier this week, is to be put on display in the Museum of the Revolution, so his people can see him “for eternity”.
Venezuelan leader Hugo Chavez died earlier this week, having ruled the south American socialist nation for 14 years. He came to power in 1998 after a failed 1994 coup made him a hero to the people.
People have descended on the Venezuelan capital to pay their respects, with lines two miles long reported.
